Compare the2025 BMW iXVS 2026 Lucid Motors Gravity

The iX’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Gravity doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The iX has standard BMW Assist, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to remotely unlock your doors if you lock your keys in, help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The Gravity doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the iX and the Gravity have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, post-collision automatic braking systems, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, driver alert monitors and available around view monitors.

The iX’s corrosion warranty is 2 years longer than the Gravity’s (12 vs. 10 years).

BMW pays for scheduled maintenance on the iX for 1 year and 12000 miles longer than Lucid Motors pays for maintenance for the Gravity (3/36,000 vs. 2/24,000).

For better traction, the iX’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Gravity (275/40R22 vs. 265/50R20).

The iX is 3.2 inches shorter than the Gravity, making the iX easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The front grille of the iX uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Gravity doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The iX has a much larger cargo volume than the Gravity with its rear seat up (35.5 vs. 25 cubic feet).

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the iX’s liftgate can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Gravity doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its liftgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

The iX has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Gravity doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

If the windows are left open on the iX the driver can close them all at the outside door handle or from a distance using the remote. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Gravity can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the iX has a standard rear wiper. The Gravity doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

Laser headlights, optional on the iX, produce their light by firing blue lasers through phosphorus, a process that uses one-half the power of the Gravity’s LED headlights. Laser headlights can have double the range of LEDs with a much smaller surface area.

The iX’s power mirror controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The Gravity’s power mirror controls are embedded in the infotainment system, seriously distracting drivers who have to adjust them while driving.

When the iX is put in reverse, the passenger rearview mirror tilts from its original position. This gives the driver a better view of the curb during parallel parking maneuvers. Shifting out of reverse puts the mirror into its original position. The Gravity’s mirror doesn’t automatically adjust for backing.

The iX’s standard rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Gravity has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

The iX has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Gravity.
